Advice seems to be available at the touch of a button. And in many instances that advise is short lived or untested, or its advice that is found on any of the social media networks. The reader needs to decide if the advice is relevant to him or her and if it is factual.
There is no lack of information, but information is becoming the issue. We live in a world were you unfortunately cannot accept things at face value anymore. You need to test the information you want to use for its authenticity. Everyone with a twitter, facebook or linkedin account has become a publisher of sort, and this is partly due to many of the printed media becoming unreliable.
The financial information and advice available can be overwhelming. So here is a good tip for today. Get yourself a highly qualified advisor that you can trust. Then you do not have to worry or try and make sense of everything you read on your own.
There is good evidence that advisors who provide clients not only with an investment portfolio, but also with efficient tax advice and behavioural support during the investment period can add as much as 4% per annum to the client’s investments. If that same advisor can and should save investments fees, that % can go up to as much as 6% of outperformance over the person that did not have good advice or had to make his own investment decisions.
